Kroger Deals

I've been seriously changing the way I feed my family. There is so much processed, refined crap  in our food that we're all slowly dying and we have no idea. Yeah, a little dramatic, I know.
Anywho, since the purchase of my deep freezer I have been really excited to start storing some food or meals. I went to the Kroger on Salem around 9:00 this morning, should've gone earlier, and found some sweet deals. They had loads of their produce, organic and not, marked down to $1.10. I had some coupons for a few other items that ended up being either FREE or extremely cheap.

BTW: I've told several people about this, but here it is again. Cellfire.com!! Load coupons right onto your Kroger card. Scan at the register and it takes it right off of your card. What's great about this is you can stack/use multiple couponsf. I'll explain how this works further down.

I'm posting my steals for the day. If you're not interested, don't read it!
For you unsavvy coupon people, here's a couple tips to know when using coupons:
  • 50/2 = 50 cents off when you purchase two, this is just an example
  • Kroger doubles coupons up to 60 cents
  • Stacking coupons means using more than one, for example: a clipped Manufacturer's coupon, a cellfire.com coupon, and a printed out internet coupon can be used together and all still be doubled resulting in free or extremely cheap stuff if you know how to work it.
Cottonelle - Original price - .99 for a 4 pack x 2 packs
                      Two Cellfire coupons - .25/1 x 2 = .50 off
                      One Manufacturers coupon - .50/2 (doubled $1.00)
Grand Total: 25 cents per pack

Grands Biscuits - Original price - On sale for 1.00 x 3 cans
                      Two Cellfire coupons - .50/1 x 2 = 1.00
                      Shortcuts.com coupon - .50/1
                      Manufacturer's coupon - 50/2 (doubled to $1.00)
                      Manufacturer's coupon - 50/1 (doubled to $1.00)
Grand Total: FREE! I actually could've gotten one more!

Kraft Shredded Cheese - Original Price - $3.79, on sale for $2.00
                      Manufacturer's coupon - .75/1
                      Grand Total: $1.25 per bag!

Activia Yogurt 4-pack - Original Price - $2.50, on sale for $1.19
                      Manufacturer's coupon - 1.00/1
                      Grand Total: .19

The produce was where I really scored. I've started blanching, chopping, and freezing anything that can be frozen. Including the shredded cheese!

Kroger has their frozen veggies marked down to $1.00 a bag this week. I've been moving from canned to frozen or fresh recently. Waaayyy better, no aluminum funk and less/no preservatives, yuck!

In the produce section I snagged:
4 1/2 pounds of organic bananas - $1.76
4 pound bag of Sunkist oranges - 1.49
2 1/2 pounds organic cucumbers - $1.10
2 pounds zucchini - $1.10
3 1/2 pounds organic lemons - $1.10
3 pounds red bell peppers - $1.10
10 pounds tomatoes - $4.40
3 heads of organic romaine lettuce - $1.10
1 pound organic celery hearts -$1.10
Grand Total: $14.25

I'm betting that was atleast $40-50 in produce, that's a low aim. And the crazy thing is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of it. It all looks great. So I am in the process right this moment of chopping and freezing. Yay!

Ok, I'll chill out now, grocery shopping gets me a little excited.
