Sam has been seriously teething the past 2 weeks. 4 teeth at the same time! I just noticed all 4 of them last night. Poor guy, he´s been sooo good through it too. Typically he gets whiny, so I didn´t even notice the teeth until I was brushing them one night. This time, however, he has gotten a horrible diaper rash. Bright red sores, some have opened and bled. Ugh, I feel so bad for him. He has acted like it doesn´t bother him except when I wipe him so I´ve been trying to be really gentle. On top of the blisters, he has been a pooping machine. No kidding, every single diaper the past week and a half have been full. The extra gross kind. I´ve turned back to disposables these past 2 weeks because of all the poop and the massive amount of Desitin I´ve been using on him. I haven´t known what else to do about the rash, so I showed a couple of girls at church the other night. They both said its from the teething, which made me feel like less of a failure. One suggested aloe vera. Duh!! Why didn´t I think of that. We have 10 aloe vera plants and those babies are awesome! So, starting Monday morning I sliced open a stem, rubbed it on his heiny, and let him run around naked. This morning, the sores are healed and there are only pink marks where the they were. So, I am promoting the healing wonders of aloe vera! The plants are super easy to take care of. We left them outside for a while when it was freezing and they came close to dying. Bahha, they self-heal themselves! Woo! I know, I´m excited.
On a side note: back to Sam running (crawling actually) around naked part. He peed in the floor 4 times. He is a horse. With little boys its quite obvious when they are going to pee, so I was watching him carefully. I went to the kitchen for 10 seconds and I hear a massive stream going...right on the coffee table. Sam is a true boy. He doesn´t just pee on the floor, he has to be standing up and peeing on an object. He peed on the bathtub, the laundry basket, coffee table, and the ottoman yesterday. The first three incidents were all within 20 minutes. But it was totally worth it to see his little booty healed up today. And Stephen got a huge kick out of his little guy being ¨a man¨...I guess.
