Where have I been the last 3 weeks?
Camping out in the Kroger clearance aisle, that´s where!
Kidding, I´m not in denial that I have a small obsession
with seeking out good deals. I mean, when they put almost
all of the marked downs in one aisle it makes it so much more
easy to find them.
For the deals that are not in the clearance aisle it´s like
I´m playing hide and seek with those little orange mark down
tags. And for the most part I am the winner!
This post has two separate instances in which I scored...majorly!

Tuesday night:
Stephen decides he wants ice cream. I just so happened
to have a free coupon for a pint of Starbuck´s ice cream
compliments of Facebook. Off to Kroger we go.
Upon our arrival I make my normal stop at the clearance aisle.
Stephen immediately spots a box full of Reese´s marked down
to 39 cents each. Now, these aren´t just your normal 2 cup
Reese´s, these babies had a bonus cup. So you get 3 cups in a
package total.
He bought 12.
He also bought 6 Almond Joy´s for 39 cents each
and they had a bonus bar in the package as well.
He is such a sucker for super sale candy.
But the glorious sight that had me drooling were the towers
of marked down diapers. I am still a cloth diaper-er, but when
I see extremely marked down disposables that are Sam´s
size (or newborn/size 1 at the moment) I will snatch those
suckers up like it´s nobody´s business.
I will admit that I am a Huggies snob when it comes to diapers.
However, I have tried the Kroger Comforts brand and I would
buy them over Huggies if they ended up costing less.
Comforts are typically about $7 per pack (48 in each pack),
but these bad boys were on mark down so I got them for
$3.23 w/ tax per pack and I bought all 11 packs of em.
Backing up before the purchase:
My dilemma was that they all were size 2. We don´t need
that size for a while and I couldn´t think of anyone who
needs 2´s. (Don´t give me any crap if you need 2´s btw).
Me and Stephen are standing there seriously pondering
whether to buy them or not. I suggest that we buy them all
and I´ll put an ad on Craigslist. If I didn´t sell them I´d use
them eventually. Stephen agrees that we should take a chance.
So with my man´s approval we load em up.
$3.23 x 11 = $35.53, not bad at all!
48 x 11 = 528 diapers
35.53 / 528 = 7 cents per diaper!!!
I know you wanted me to break it all down for you :)
The next morning I listed 9 packs on Craigslist.
$5 per pack or $40 for all of them.
A few short hours later I have a buyer.
I just made my money back + $11.00.

ok fine, I WON'T give you crap about the fact that poor little Betsy is in size 2 diapers and is almost out!
j/k
you are an amazing shopper!
I love this! Bargain hunting really seems to be an addiction for some people, but I think it's a good one. I'm not quite there yet. Hook me up with some of those Reese's!
Hey, don't take all the clearance items at Kroger; save some for me.
Sarah - I did think of you! But I thought Betsy was so advanced for her age that she's already potty trained and would have no use for my diapers!
Britney - In the freezer right now, I shall present you with a 39 cent Reese's in September. Unless we eat them before you get here and in that case I will present you with a 50+ cent Reese's.
Tammy - You should've been there last night at 10:30! I took my mom to show her how to bargain shop. It was eventful; we got paper towels and shampoo for nearly nothin!
