Details:
I have my monthly grocery budget set at the usual amount, but I think I'm gonna make it even more of a challenge and shave $100 off.
I decided that I don't want to disclose the amount of my grocery budget because I really don't care for you people to know that amount. I'm going to attempt to put everything in percentages so you can know where I'm at, but don't hold me to it. That's math and we don't get along.
Included in the Grocery Budget:
- Groceries, toiletries, ect.
Not included in the Grocery Budget:
- Tithes
- Bills - Mortgage, insurance, ect.
- Health emergencies
- Gas
- Savings
The Plan:
We aren't carrying our debit or credit cards with us, so as not to be tempted to spend. I will take my debit card with me to grocery shop and that's it.We will pick a day to fill both cars up and continue filling them up the same day each week.
I haven't done any heavy grocery shopping lately so a very planned out trip will be happening sometime this week. I have a freezer and deep freezer full of meat so we will be eating from our freezers the bulk of this month. I probably won't have to do much grocery shopping, just filling in the gaps.
Which brings me to...a menu plan! That will help significantly lower my shopping time and spending.
I'm also going to discipline myself and not even make plans to go "shopping" unless it is for groceries. So...no Target, no Salvation Army. Just...no.
We have decided on an allowance of $100 which translates into $50 bucks each or $12.50 each week. We can do what we please with this. It's purpose is to give us a smidgen of freedom to have a coffee with a friend, get a haircut, or what have you.
There you have it. No Spend Month in all of it's frugal splendor.
I'll keep you posted......
